Quit Smoking Support and Tips

by Joi on June 1, 2006

If you’re a smoker who’s trying to quit the habit - first of all, I give you mad props!! Mad, mad, mad props. I’ve never had to go down that particular road - but I’ve seen two family members navigate the rough ride. One licked it and is healthier and stronger as a result. Unfortunatley, the other (my dad) died at an unbelievably early age (54). Rather than beat the habit, my dad - who should still be here today - was beaten by the habit.

It would be ridiculous for me to try to give any sort of advice on the subject. But there is something I’m danged good at, and that’s research. I can research the tar out of any given subject. I’m pretty sure I missed my calling as a scientist.

Anyway, if you or anyone you love is trying to quit smoking, below is a link you HAVE to HAVE to HAVE to check out.

LESLIE STOPS SMOKING

It’s a blog written by a lady who has a real way with words. Here, see for yourself! Below is a passage from a post where she’s discussing Replacement Therapy:

When you think about it - it took me about 7- 10 minutes to smoke a sickorette, depending on whether I was in a rush, or lounging at home writing in my journal. I smoked about a pack a day, and was getting to the point of smoking more. There were 25 sicks in a pack. Times that by 30 and thats 300 minutes, or about 5 hours a day. So let’s give some leeway and say you don’t smoke as much, we’ll even give more time and round it down to 3.5 hours a day. Three hours a day!! Spent feeding our addictions. OH what we could do with that precious, precious time. Not to mention the incredible life force and energy the poison sucks out of us (and we think we’re the ones inhaling!).

So what does one do when one quits? For Kerri, it was discovering new hobbies and interests……..

Go on over to her blog and leave no stone unturned. Read each and every post and bookmark her for future reference.
