Memoirs of a Blog Whore

I’ve become a blog whore of late. I’m fascinated by human nature and love to look underneath people’s psyches. Blogs allow me to gawk at as many thinkboxes as I want to. Yummy!

Lots of interesting people out there blogging. I throw the most interesting ones in my favorite’s file and the others out the back door. Problem is, more go out the back door than in the file. So many of these cats are either too boring or too angry. Or both…and OMG, if there’s anything worse than an angry bore, I never want to encounter it.

If you ever want a good scare and you can’t find a copy of “What Lies Beneath”, I’ve got a suggestion. Teen-ager’s blogs. Not all of them make your hair stand on end, of course, but some would make Freddy Kruger shake under his fedora.

I remember a lot of things about the years between the ages of 13 and 20. I remember thinking about boys, loving animals, reading a lot of Teen magazines, thinking about boys, playing music too loud, going to the mall, thinking about boys, hating school, roller-skating, playing softball, thinking about boys…..

But I don’t remember being a hostile, cussing, threatening, anger-filled explosive waiting to blow. Why in the world are these kids so danged mad?

Now, profanity doesn’t scare me, I’ve ridden in the golf cart while Michael golfed. But when a 14 year old knows more words than I do, I’m a bit uneasy. I’m uneasier still when he’s throwing them around in blatant anger and rage. Unfortunately he isn’t alone….and not all of them are boys. Someone needs to explain to these baby bloggers that if you have to announce underneath ABOUT ME, “I’m a bad ass” – you probably aren’t. Bad asses don’t give a warning. They just show up. Unannounced. Part of their “edge”.

I have come across some great teen bloggers out there with a world of talent and even more personality. The world lies before them and it will be in excellent hands, but I’m a bit worried about the bad asses. That same world’s gonna eat them alive.

Anyhoo, people are fascinating to me. Especially those who have the courage to just be themselves. No hiding behind cloaks, no trickery, no fronts, no pretense- the kind of people who aren’t afraid to just be who they are.

They kinda rock.

Make each moment count double,
