Living in the Moment

“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.” – Dale Carnegie

Do you ever catch yourself in the middle of this quote’s guilt? Sure, me too. “When I lose 5 pounds, life will be better..,” “One day we’ll have a bigger yard….,” “When work slows down I’ll be able to…” and so on and on and on.

It’s like we get so busy looking for the pot of gold that may or may not be at the end of the rainbow, we fail to even appreciate the rainbow, itself.

We’d all do well to remind ourselves to live in the moment at hand. To enjoy it to its fullest and get the most we possibly can from it before we look to the next moment . If we keep living one moment ahead of ourselves, we’ll never be still long enough to truly enjoy life….we’ll just keep rushing through it. And are we really that anxious to get to the finish line?!?

Stay in the moment! Plant your feet firmly on its ground and take a good look around. Be amazed at your blessings – as you would if you were seeing them for the first time. Thank God for all of them and never take them for granted….. especially the people in your life. Every moment with them is worth more than any treasure in the world. Embrace the moment and embrace them even tighter.

Merry Christmas!
Make each magical holiday moment count double,
