I’m sure we all catch ourselves fretting about this or stressing over that from time to time. But if we can train our minds to snap us out of that trap as soon as we enter it, we’ll be a lot better [...]

The American Lung Association has published a report listing 52 Proven Stress Reducers. Given the number of people who suffer from stress, this really should be required reading. They’re all amazing and merit our consideration, but there some I liked better than the rest. Below are the ones that stood out to me as being especially good.
1. Get up fifteen minutes earlier in the morning. The inevitable morning mishaps will be less stressful. Getting up earlier is great advice, but ONLY if you’re getting enough sleep. Otherwise, you’ll just do more harm than good………….

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.” ~Mary Anne Radmacher……….

“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.” - Dale Carnegie

In my last post, I certainly didn’t mean to make it sound like December has been a total drag - far from it. Actually, time away from “the home office,” has been as happy as possible - because, even though we miss my mother terribly, we know she’s having her best Christmas ever. Can you imagine what Heaven must be like during the Christmas Season…talk about beautiful. AND, she’s reunited with her own mom, my dad, and a baby brother (hers) that she never got a chance to know.—–

I recently read an interview with NYC psychiatrist Dr. Lynne Tan. The gist of the interview was reducing the levels of stress in your life and she listed 10 different suggestions to do so. Most of the suggestions were pretty familiar to those of us who study Mental Fitness (Pamper yourself, Take a relaxing bubble bath, go to the gym, meditate, laugh, bake, take a walk…) - but one really caught my attention. It’s one of those things in life that’s almost too obvious………..

Sometimes when life seems to have completely forgotten how to be reasonable, a hug can make all the difference in the world. I can remember times when I was in the darkest part of an emotional nightmare. Inevitably, someone came along with a hug and made life at that moment less dark, less scary, and less overwhelming. A few times I held on not wanting the hug to ever end! But when it did, I was in a much better place.—–

My beautiful daughter, Brittany, recently had a birthday. Another year older, another year sweeter - I swear, the girl’s heart makes Texas look like an ant. A small, sickly ant.
Anyway, the birthday card we gave her was not only pretty - it taught a few very valuable lessons. So much so that I wanted to blog them for y’all to enjoy, too. If you really let each one into your heart and mind today, tomorrow will find you an even better, happier person.—-

The Courage Art Print, above, sort of goes with the rumbling and mumbling I was doing yesterday about courage. I had pointed out that some people bail out of the fight because they’re cowards. When I read over the post last night, the word coward struck me as unkind, and I never [...]

“Yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.” -Anonymous
The quote above is as powerful as it is pretty. If we could wrap our minds around its truth, the mind boggles at just how much we could get done. It’s kind of like driving a car: If we keep looking in the rearview mirror, we’re liable to plow right into something we hadn’t planned on plowing into. Yet if we look too far ahead, the same thing’s going to happen……
