Alzheimers and Cholesterol

by Joi on December 28, 2005

Because studies suggest that Alzheimer’s disease may be linked to cholesterol levels, researchers are now looking at whether cholesterol-lowering medications (like statins) could slow the rate of cognitive decline in dementia patients.

French researchers have been running studies on the link and their findings are stirring up a great deal of excitement within the Alzheimer’s community. Of course, they caution that there’s still a great deal of reasearch left to be done. But any ray of light within the dark is cause to acknowledge.
