Engage in a Little Happiness

by Joi on March 1, 2006

One of the shortest and surest paths to happiness is a simple one: Find something you enjoy doing and do it like it’s never been done before!

According to a study in the Journal of Happiness Studies, people who don’t engage in fun activities are less satisfied with life. Those who take part in doing things purely because of the fun factor, have more reasons to smile, and they do so more often.

The best thing to do, it seems, is to find an activity that you can get so wrapped up in that you lose track of time….something you’re so passionate and excited about that you want to tell everyone about it.

Some of the recommended and suggested activities are: Reading, running, walking, tennis, golf, swimming, collecting shells, collecting stamps, dancing, writing, painting, fishing…… A few of my greatest passions appear on their list (tennis, shells, reading, writing, walking…) - PLUS I throw yogs, shopping, gardening and cooking into the fun mix! Okay, maybe shopping doesn’t really qualify, but it sure puts a smile on my face.

Go have some fun today, you’ll be happy you did!!!

Make each moment count double,
~Joi
